After months of hard work, we launched the first Seed Effect savings groups in the Uganda refugee camps surrounding Adjumani and Moyo and we’ll be continuing to grow. We are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the South Sudanese as they rebuild their lives in the camps. And we’re excited to also announce that over the next few months, we’ll be further expanding our reach into the local Ugandan community as we launch savings groups in the towns as well.

Given the incredibly difficult circumstances, here’s what our new savings group members have to say:

Savia Keji is a former member of our savings group program in South Sudan and has now joined Peace Savings Group in Uganda. She says:

“My hope is alive now that Seed Effect has brought savings program to the camps. This program was good in Kajo Keji. It helped me to build, pay dowry for my son and school fees.”

Suzan Kojo says:

“With the savings program here I will soon enroll my kids in school and improve the welfare of my family just as it was in South Sudan when Seed Effect’s Savings For Life Program empowered me and many others.”

And Juan Betty Data says:

“Being a widow, SFL program has given me the courage to work hard and be self reliant rather than depending on others. I save and am empowered.”
