Seed Effect returned to South Sudan in 2024, taking up the work we first began there before war forced our team to leave in 2016. Yengi Bismarck leads that work as our Country Director. Here, in his own words, is what he sees.

It is easy to conclude that miracles no longer exist because we no longer see the blind receive sight, the lame walk, or the dead raised as in the days of Jesus. But here in South Sudan, I witness miracles every day.

Our members begin with almost nothing—displaced by conflict, living with uncertainty, facing a collapsing currency, limited economic opportunities, and no access to formal financial institutions. Many return home having lost not only their possessions, but also their confidence, their identity, and their sense of belonging.

Then something remarkable happens. Through Seed Effect savings groups, they find a family. Through Christ, they rediscover their identity. Through faithful stewardship, hard work, and the support of their group, they begin to save, start businesses, build homes, send their children to school, and dream again. Families are being reunited because people now have something to come home to—a house, a garden, a livelihood, and hope.

To me, that is nothing short of a miracle.

Our founders often say that we are made for the hard places, and every day I see the truth of those words. God is doing extraordinary work in some of the world’s hardest places, transforming lives one family at a time. Your generosity is not simply funding savings groups—it is giving people dignity, restoring families, rebuilding communities, and pointing men and women back to Christ.

Thank you for believing in South Sudan. Thank you for investing in people when the odds seem impossible. Every transformed life is a reminder that God still performs miracles—sometimes not in an instant, but through faithful people like you who choose to be part of His work.
