About Jeremy

Jeremy Phillips joined Seed Effect as the Director of Field Operations in February, 2022, but his history with Seed Effect goes back much farther.

Jeremy was living in Dallas, Texas at the time that Seed Effect was launched in 2009 and has walked closely with Seed Effect Co-Founders, Missy and David Williams, through the years.

Jeremy has over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Elevate USA where he helped replicate the Elevate model for serving urban youth in cities across the U.S. Prior to Elevate USA, Jeremy served at the Executive Director of Empower African Children where he helped to provide high quality secondary and university education to Ugandan students, culminating in the launch of Empower International Academy. Much of Jeremy’s career has been spent living and working in Uganda, where he is currently based today. He believes deeply in investing in people in challenging circumstances through a holistic approach that will equip them to thrive. Jeremy has a B.A. from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Jeremy’s experience living in Uganda, knowledge of effective nonprofit practices, and history with Seed Effect position him well to serve as the link between the Seed Effect teams in the U.S. and Uganda.

Jeremy lives in Kampala, Uganda and his home base in the U.S. is in Denver, CO. Jeremy’s wife, Jamie, is a teacher at the International School of Uganda where his two teenage sons, Finn and Max, also attend school.
