Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate Development Representative to help us raise the funds that our organization needs to operate effectively and to serve our members in northern Uganda. The Development Representative will be responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with our donors, securing funds, and reporting back on how much financing you have been able to generate. You should also form strategic partnerships within our organization to promote its objectives. You will represent the company and work with senior leadership to develop and implement initiatives that increase company visibility within the faith-based community.

To be successful as a Development Representative, you should be a people person with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Top candidates will be able to solve problems and develop individualized strategies that work for different donors. You need to be a team player who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this exciting role.

Responsibilities

Donor Engagement (50%):

  • Proactively initiate contact with new and existing donors to foster relationships, raise awareness, and connect them to the organization.
  • Build trust and influence by collaboratively working with donors towards solutions and goals beneficial to both the organization and the donor.
  • Provide avenues for donor engagement such as trips, events, and personal connections.
  • Oversee Seed Effect events and trips, coordinating with team members to achieve event goals, including planning, budgeting, implementation, and follow-up.
    • Be available and willing to recruit, plan, lead, and follow up on trips to Uganda, where current and potential donors can witness Seed Effect’s work firsthand in northern Uganda and South Sudan.
    • Managing the organization of special events, including Happy Hours, Gather events, Spring/Fall Luncheons, conferences, and other opportunities
  • Ensure the highest standards of integrity, transparency, clear communication, and responsiveness in serving donors, expressing gratitude, and providing timely reports on contributions.
  • Oversee a professional donor management system (Virtuous).
  • Utilize monday.com to track workflows and report on set KPIs.

Prospect Development (45%):

  • Proactively cultivate relationships with potential donors.
  • Seek referrals from community members, staff, board members, and existing donors.
  • Build and maintain a major donor pipeline and database.
  • Demonstrate reliability and responsiveness, effectively stewarding any referrals or handoffs to the best of your ability.

Strategic planning (5%):

  • Collaborate with the Seed Effect team to develop innovative approaches that unite individuals, families, and partners around the values of Seed Effect and establish strategic growth priorities for target communities (DFW, Houston, Austin, Richmond, VA, and Nashville/Chattanooga).

Qualifications

  • Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and vision of Seed Effect;
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related fields, preferred;
  • 1-3 years experience within non-profit fundraising or outreach activities, preferably in a faith-based setting;

Head of Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Operation’s primary role is to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of Seed Effect Uganda’s program (SFL) across all regions of operation. He/she will provide oversight and leadership in the design, development, and implementation of the SEU program in Uganda. In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, he/she will contribute to the Country’s Strategic Plan and development of the Country’s programming, emphasizing overall quality programming and increased funding.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Spiritual Leadership

  • To model a high standard of personal Christian leadership and integrity through lifestyle and professional relationships.
  • To ensure a holistic approach is maintained in implementing all Organizational operations and programs across the country.

Strategic Program Design, Planning, Direction & Implementation

  • The director of operations works with the chief executive and management team to set the organization’s strategic goals. Then he/she translates these into specific operational objectives and supports the implementation and monitoring of the Strategic Plan
  • In collaboration with the senior and branch management, devise strategies for ensuring the growth of programs, and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs 
  • In collaboration with the CEO and Senior Management Team, provide leadership, oversight, and guidance on program strategy, direction, and implementation, ensuring the SFL program is rolled out holistically and in line with the strategic approach across all areas of operation.
  • In consultation with the CEO, develop and implement internal mechanisms for institutional learning, quality control mechanisms, and programmatic integration
  • Ensures international and national best practices are benchmarked and adhered to in the implementation of the Seed Effect Uganda program across all areas of operation.
  • Provides oversight in the management and development of key-in-country donor relationships and overall donor development strategies
  • To provide oversight in developing new projects, including emergency and development programming across SEU.
  • Ensures effective strategic change management in the organization by timely and effectively communicating all changes to the branches/ all areas of operation to increase the success of new interventions.

Performance management

  • Supervises and monitors the Branch Coordinators in all areas of operations and ensures, all program key activities are implemented in line with the design and strategic plan. Reports timely on key activities and ensures the objectives will be achieved. If the indications are that things are not going well, he/she must intervene and guide on actions that address gaps timely.
  • In line with the annual work plan, timely set targets (performance plans) review the performance of the Branch Coordinators biannually, and develop capacity building and development programs with the support of the management team.
  • Maintains a continual review of program performance to ensure that objectives are met according to program plans, log frames, and agreements, chairs regular program review meetings of both technical and strategic forums internally
  • Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
  • In liaison with the CEO and Human Resource, facilitate opportunities for learning and knowledge sharing across the organization and between SEU country staff leads

Financial Management

  • Provides oversight of program budget, forecasts and expenditures, ensuring funds are closely monitored and budget holders are held accountable, in collaboration with Finance Manager
  • Supports SEU’s budget process for each project in collaboration with Management team.
  • In line with the Organization value of doing more with less, ensures accountability through proper planning, implementation and reporting on all operations in the branch on a monthly basis.

Institutional Fundraising

  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer she/he lobby’s for funds locally and internationally through proposal writing and development of programs where appropriate in line with the values and guiding principles of the organization.
  • Develop and support institutional fundraising strategies in accordance with SEU’s development framework
  • In collaboration with the US and Chief Executive Officer, ensure all reports and materials needed for fundraising by the US is timely disseminated from the respective office of operation.

Networking/Outreach

  • Actively develop and maintain positive relationships with NGOs and local partners in Uganda
  • Represent SEU in cluster meetings, sector coordination, and various forums
  • Stay informed on Ugandan geopolitical changes and undertake timely strategic review of SEU programs as necessary to ensure continued relevance in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Build and facilitate partnerships with other like-minded organizations and churches to advance God’s Kingdom in East Africa.
  • Facilitate donor visits, meetings, reports, and feedback as necessary.
  • Represent SEU to other international and national NGOs, government officials, etc.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • In collaboration with the M&E department and CEO, supports the development and utilization of appropriate M&E tools and processes. And guides in defining project objectives and overseeing quality control of the project

Reporting

  • Ensures program compliance with donor management and reporting standards including oversight of program narrative reporting
  • Effectively and efficiently reports monthly, quarterly and annually on SFL programs, ensuring timely update is provided on the operation of the organization to the Chief Executive Officer and Management to aid effective decision making and support to the operation.

QUALIFICATIONS/ PERSON’S SPECIFICATIONS

  • Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate commitment to Seed Effect’s mission to serve as a holistic tool to live out the Great Commission alongside the Great Commandment as we empower the poor to know and follow Christ, plug into the local church, and overcome physical poverty
  • Ability to demonstrate servant leadership skills
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Monitoring and Evaluation, or related fields.
  • Postgraduate qualifications such as Post Graduate Diploma, MBA, or similar qualification is desired
  • At least five years of experience in an organization/ NGO conducting similar activity
  • Excellent interpersonal skill and effective communication skills
  • Ability to analyse details and work under pressure
  • Excellent proposal report and writing skills with the ability to develop the right projects to expand the operation of the organization
  • Knowledge of the Ugandan banking regulations and statutory requirements
  • Strong managerial skills and demonstrated capacity to manage people and interact with a wide range of NGOs, partners, and government representatives
  • Knowledge of work planning, budgeting and reporting

Director of Development

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to hire an ambitious, passionate, dynamic and strategic leader to oversee and implement a Christ-centered fundraising and marketing strategy. The Director of Development will work with the Executive Director, leading the development team in establishing goals and building, implementing, and maintaining an effective strategy to reach and cultivate relationships with individual donors, churches, foundations, and corporations. The Director of Development will oversee the engagement of major donors across all major gift officer portfolios (individuals, foundations, corporations) as well as develop new donor prospects to solicit major giving to Seed Effect.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

To promote and fulfill the mission and vision of Seed Effect by developing and managing Seed Effect’s fundraising and development strategy.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Development/ Fundraising

  • Work with the Executive Director to develop, execute, and manage a comprehensive and diversified fundraising strategy to meet Seed Effect’s funding requirements. This strategy should be designed to cultivate, solicit, and recognize donors with the ability to make gifts at the Major Gifts level and who have an affinity for Seed Effect’s program.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with major donors on behalf of and in conjunction with the Executive Director. This includes responding to requests for information, securing contributions for Seed Effect when appropriate, leading donor meetings, trips and events.
  • Fully utilize available tools and resources including Virtuous, Classy and others to establish cultivation strategies and make calls on individuals, foundations, and corporations as assigned, with Seed Effect staff and/or individually, to promote Seed Effect and its needs.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Stewardship Advisor to ensure intentional stewardship of existing Seed Effect donor relationships to encourage to greater support and involvement.
  • Generate leads for new potential Major Donors and manage a portfolio of Major Gift donors and donor prospects.
  • Represent Seed Effect at special events, activities and other assigned functions. Liaison to community; speak in public on behalf of Seed Effect.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for the purpose of prospective and donor relationship cultivation and giving, as needed.
  • Assist in developing and managing an Advisory Council.
  • Assist with event planning, mobilization and execution.

Management/ Administrative

  • Collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, build strong and sustainable working relationships and interact within all levels of the organization. Establish excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Stewardship Advisor and other direct reports; oversee effective resource development practices; communicate annual, quarterly and other goals; monitor performance; conduct monthly, quarterly and annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements for fundraising
  • Timely and accurately record all contacts with donors/prospects using designated information in documentation systems. Ensure that donor database is properly maintained and utilized effectively.
    1. Oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
    2. Monitor and maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date donor information.
    3. Maintain detailed and complete records of donor engagement, including the discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process.
    4. Create and present relevant fundraising reports to Executive Director.

Digital Marketing Coordinator

Job Description

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Digital Marketing Coordinator who can manage multiple social media and content channels (email, blog, web) and online communities to help communicate our mission and cultivate new donors and advocates for Seed Effect. 

You will work with our Executive Director and development team, and come alongside our creative partners to see the content process from ideation to publication for both organic and paid content. Daily, you will also be responsible for maintaining editorial calendars, publishing content on the web and social media, and managing and growing our online community. 

You need to be detail-oriented, adaptable, empathetic and a creative storyteller and communicator. Your written communication skills and self-starter mindset will allow you to execute high quality digital ads, email, blog and social media content on an ongoing basis.

Job Expectations 

Content Planning:

  • Manage and maintain web and social media content calendars and campaigns.
  • Identify content trends on digital initiatives drawing on your knowledge of social media channel nuances and audience behavior. 
  • Work closely with creative partners, the executive director, and board members to plan relevant, new digital, social and mobile content strategies and campaigns. 

Community Management:

  • Nurture our social media community through daily monitoring, publishing and engagement.
  • Ability to communicate digitally with a high level of precision (no spelling errors) to reflect the brand persona in a timely manner with the ultimate goal of growing and cultivating our donor base.
  • Ability to use multiple social media platforms effectively for growth and conversion, and to understand the different audiences and nuances on different platforms.

Paid Media:

  • Develop, implement, optimize and manage our paid social and paid media strategy

  • Partner with creative partner to coordinate assets and deliverables for campaigns

Job Requirements 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a digital domain – experience with social media, community management, copywriting, email, and digital storytelling
