KGF Expansion Project Update

KGF Expansion Project Update

Moving from refuge to restoration.

War forced over 1 million South Sudanese to seek refuge in Uganda. Most of these refugees now reside in seven settlements in rural and impoverished regions in the north.

Unfortunately, the typical response to refugees and people facing dire poverty has been eternal handouts, which creates dependency and pushes families further into a perpetual cycle of poverty.

With your support, Seed Effect is changing this by providing access to Christ-centered, dignifying, and empowering tools executed by the refugees themselves.

Seed Effect’s savings and loan groups are providing access to Christ-centered community and the financial tools they need including a safe place to save, affordable credit, micro-insurance, and an investment tool. Seed Effect members report coming to know Jesus, growing deeper in their faith and improving their lives. Through Seed Effect, they are moving from refuge to restoration.

An independent impact assessment and five years of data confirmed our program was working. Now you have helped us scale it.

Three new braches in two years

KGF Partnership brings expansion in Uganda.

There are seven large refugee settlements in northern Uganda, collectively home to over 800,000 of the more than 1,000,000 South Sudanese refugees.

In 2021, Seed Effect received a grant from the Excellence in Giving Kingdom Giving Fund to help launch three new branches in the three remaining refugee settlements in northern Uganda over the next two years.

The Kingdom Giving Fund generously committed the funds needed for the first year of operations at each of these new branches, as well as a portion of funds needed for the second and third years of operations.

Because of your support, Seed Effect will be able to serve an additional 20,500 South Sudanese refugees and Ugandans over the next three years through this expansion.

All seven of the largest refugee settlements and neighboring villages now have access to Seed Effect’s program.

As we celebrate what’s to come, we remain in awe of the work that the Lord continues to do in northern Uganda!
