Restoring Families: Moses Okello’s Journey with Seed Effect

At Seed Effect, we believe that true restoration can’t happen apart from the Gospel. Through our work, we are not only seeing our members empowered to provide financially for their families, but we’re seeing families restored through God’s love and the power of forgiveness. Every week, our members gather together to save and study the Bible. Our Bible Study is designed to help members grow spiritually, find healing, and restore broken relationships. One incredible example of this transformation is the story of Seed Effect member Moses Okello.

A Heart Heavy with Unforgiveness

Moses’ journey has been marked by hardship, and like many in Northern Uganda, he was struggling to provide for his family. He shared,

“I never used to go for prayers, and I was an alcoholic. When I used to drink alcohol, I was a person who wouldn’t forgive even to my wife… She finally ran away and left me.”

Moses carried a deep burden—unforgiveness. The pain of his past left wounds that were hard to heal, and bitterness took root in his heart.

The Power of God’s Word

Everything changed when Moses joined God’s Mercy Seed Effect Group. As he studied God’s Word, his perspective began to shift. The Scriptures spoke to him personally, teaching him that just as God forgives us, we are called to forgive others.

In Moses’ own words:

“Before joining Seed Effect’s Bible Study, my heart was not free. But through learning about God’s love and forgiveness, I have been transformed. I have learned to forgive and let go of the pain that was holding me back.”

Restoring Families Through Forgiveness

Forgiveness is powerful—it brings freedom, restores relationships, and strengthens families. As Moses embraced this truth, he took a bold step to reconcile with his wife. He shared,

“I realized that I had a misunderstanding with my wife because she was no longer with me. She was with her parents. I then called my wife and told her that I was coming to her home, and I am coming to ask for forgiveness.”

His heart became lighter, his faith grew deeper, and his home became a place of peace rather than conflict.

Today, Moses has reconciled with his wife, and he’s building a stronger future for his family through Seed Effect’s savings and loan program. He has become a beacon of hope to others in his group and community, encouraging them to trust in God’s love and embrace the healing power of forgiveness.
