The War in Sudan: More Refugees to Serve

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, has caused widespread displacement, affecting millions of people who have fled their homes. This crisis has driven large numbers of refugees across borders into neighboring countries, including Northern Uganda, where they seek safety and stability. Uganda has welcomed many of these individuals, offering asylum and settlement opportunities in areas like the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement.

The refugee population in Kiryandongo has grown from 64,000 to 132,902 just in the last few months, underscoring the desperate need for continued resources, training, and support for these families who have lost so much. Seed Effect is already active in Kiryandongo, where we are bringing the hope of Jesus and economic empowerment to refugees as they work to rebuild their lives. We’re so grateful to be positioned to meet these needs and are already beginning to welcome Sudanese refugees into our savings groups.

Please join us in praying for peace in Sudan and strength for these refugees so that they may find hope and healing despite the hardship they’ve endured.
