about the luncheon

For almost 15 years, Seed Effect has brought hope, opportunity, and empowerment to hard places affected by conflict.

What’s grown to over 75,000 families served started with a South Sudanese church, a sewing machine, and a vision to see the hope of Jesus Christ and economic empowerment spread throughout East Africa.

Join us for a conversation with David Kaya, Africa Director of Empower One and Chair of the Seed Effect Uganda Board, as we look back on how it all began, celebrate all that God has done, and explore our vision for the future while enjoying lunch at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

David Kaya, Empower One Africa National Director & Chair of the Seed Effect Uganda Board of Directors

The son of a pastor, David Kaya has a heart and a calling to pull his people in South Sudan and Sudan out of darkness into the saving Light of Jesus Christ.

“My vision is to bring this Light to as many of those who are unreached as possible.”

Pushed out of his home of Sudan during the civil war that lasted from 1983 to 2005, David began planting churches in Northern Uganda in the 1990s. David graduated from Global Theological Seminary in Jinja, Uganda. In 2003, He started as an Evangecube trainer with e3 Partners, and quickly moved into the national director role in 2005. In 2009, he helped launch Seed Effect in South Sudan and in October 2012, he helped launch Empower One’s work as its Africa Director.

Under David’s leadership Empower One has planted over 600 churches, seen 140,000 people make a profession of faith in Christ, launched an indigenous church-planter seminary, indigenous missionary program, 14 schools, 2 farms, medical clinics, water wells, women’s ministry, and an economic empowerment ministry called Seed Effect, where he sits on the board.

David is married to Gloria and has five beautiful daughters and one son, Nancy, Cathy, Marklin Ruth, Taylor, Harmony and Mike.
